In 1948, S. William Becker described melanosis and hypertrichosis in two reported cases that were later known as “Becker's nevus” [1]. It is a relatively common, benign cutaneous hamartoma, clinically characterized by light- to a dark-brown patch of variable size and irregular borders [2]. Common sites for Becker's naevus are on the upper trunk, chest, or scapular region [3]. Lesions usually appear during puberty, however, rarely lesions appeared at birth or early childhood [3]. Although it is mostly unilateral, Becker's melanosis may present with bilateral lesions and on atypical sites like the lower limbs [4]. The exact etiology is unknown, but androgen stimulation may be responsible for the hypertrichosis and darker pigmentation in postpubertal males [5].
In this case, the presentation of classic Becker's nevus in a young male, the nevus continued to increase in dimensions and affected a large area of his upper limb [6]. This represents not only a diagnostic but also a therapeutic challenge as most patients are concerned about cosmetic appearance. Current treatment modalities are limited including laser with variable success rates.
